Today I performed some statistical calculations about the correlations between several aerobic endurance tests: (1) lab VO2max test; (2) Maximal aerobic speed field test; and (3) Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test (YYIRT).
correlation between MAS speed and maximal treadmill speed = 0.80, p=0.001
MAS distance and YYIRT=0.80, p=0.000
MAS distance and VO2max (ml/min/kg)=0.68, p=0.008
MAS distance and VO2max (ml/min/kg-0.75)=0.71, p=0.004
MAS distance and VO2max time (s)=0.86, p=0.000
YYIRT and VO2max (ml/min/kg)=0.69, p=0.005
YYIRT and VO2max (ml/min/kg-0.75)=0.65, p=0.009
YYIRT and VO2max time (s)=0.78, p=0.001
From these results, I prefer using MAS test as a field test to estimate VO2max.
But YYIRT, due to the intermitttent nature, had different physiological response compared to the continuous exercise mode. Therefore, YYIRT should be also good to evaluate the football-specific intermittent aerobic endurance.

hi del
i really enjoy reading your post and would like to know more about fitness training.
just a question.
is it possible to acquire a fitness coaching license without taking a physio bachelor degree or some sort?
thanks.
I assume you are talking about performance fitness not health fitness. Actually we use the term "strength and conditioning" to describe the performance fitness training.
You have to have the related degree in order to sit for the exam. I mean the internationally recognize certificate.
Related degree= PE, sport science, physiology, physiotheraphy, nursing...etc
But some FA issue their own certificate, which the entry requirement varied.
